Washington, D.C. – July 9, 2025 – The U.S. Agricultural Export Development Council (USAEDC) applauds Congressional efforts to significantly increase funding for U.S. agricultural export development and trade promotion programs in the recently passed “One Big Beautiful Bill” Act. This action represents a significant win for American agriculture and effectively doubles permanent funding for these critical initiatives.
Greg Tyler, USAEDC Chair and President and CEO of the USA Poultry & Egg Export Council (USAPEEC), said, “The U.S. agricultural export community is incredibly excited about this historic development. The additional funding for the market development programs, which has sorely been needed, unequivocally demonstrates a strong commitment from Congress and the Trump Administration to our nation’s farmers, ranchers, and agricultural producers. It is a testament to the essential role of trade promotion in bolstering returns to the U.S. agricultural sector.”
The “One Big Beautiful Bill” Act includes a new Supplemental Agricultural Trade Promotion Program with an annual funding level of $285 million, beginning in Fiscal Year 2027. This funding is in addition to the existing funding for the Market Access Program (MAP) and Foreign Market Development (FMD) program, which typically receive approximately $235 million combined annually. The new funds represent a substantial and sustained increase in resources dedicated to growing U.S. agricultural exports worldwide.
USAEDC’s Executive Director, Stephen Sothmann, said, “The expanded investment in trade promotion will empower American agriculture to overcome trade barriers, develop new markets, and enhance global competitiveness. In a rapidly changing global landscape, and amidst ongoing challenges, diversifying our agricultural export opportunities is more crucial than ever. This is a major victory for our coalition and for every hardworking American farmer.”
